Travel firm helps natural ecosystems

Non profit organisation Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP) is sponsoring projects around the world that address pressing environmental, educational and public health needs.
Supporting and coordinating events on behalf of Cheltenham travel firm Abercrombie & Kent (A&K), it looks to provide long-term support for natural ecosystems to ensure human populations, plants and wildlife continue to survive.
A&K sponsors projects and works with conservation agencies such as the Galapagos Conservation Trust, Save the Rhino, Tusk Trust, Tour Operators for Tigers. Locations include Chile, Tanzania, Uganda and India.
A&K and AKP have pioneered a new form of community development assistance by forging informal partnerships with grassroots initiatives and compassionate travellers.
From its office in Ambrose Street, A&K is reducing its carbon footprint by recycling waste materials, actively discouraging unnecessary printing, using carbon neutral print, encouraging staff to cycle to work and providing a secure cycle store.
The company is also dedicated to supporting the local community and works with local organisations, community initiatives and fundraising events. This year the company entered a team for the dragon boat races at Gloucester Docks in aid of children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
The company continues to become more sustainable by striving to reduce the impact of climate change, taking a proactive role in protecting endangered species, educating local people to protect the environment for their benefit and future generations and help travellers understand fragile ecosystems so they continue to thrive.
